Allow war-traumatized kids from Gaza to live with parents in Canada

Sireen and Sama have spent four years in hiding and survived on the most bombed street in Gaza in May 2021, yet still wait for Ottawa to issue permits to join their mother, Amal, in Hamilton, whom they’ve not been able to hug for 29 months due to Canada’s endless processing delays. Their Mom is part of a group of in-Canada refugees from Gaza who simply want to help their families leave war-ravaged Gaza and immediately reunite here in Canada while their permanent residence applications are processed – a humanitarian principle Canada has repeatedly committed itself to but often failed to deliver. The processing time otherwise could be an average of 39 months. That’s on top of the 29 months they have already been apart.

Toronto Community Bikeways Coalition is a community-based campaign group advocating for 100 km of bikeways to mirror the busiest TTC subway and bus routes. It was initially formed by a group of volunteers who believe Torontonians require safe alternative transportation options, particularly during this unprecedented time as our society grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic and the Climate Emergency.

Forging a New Global Workers’ Movement

Organizing Insurgency (2021) argues that the contemporary era of imperialism is marked by the extension of exploitation of Southern workers in core sectors of the economy: agriculture, mining, and industry. Indeed, incidences of protest are expanding in absolute numbers as industrial production shifts to the Global South, where 83% of the world’s population of 7.7 billion people reside. These workers are subjected to far more onerous and dangerous labour conditions than industrial workers in developed countries.

Feminist Protests in Palestine

Palestine looks back on a long history of women organizing dating back to as early as 1917, as well as a vibrant history of women’s social and political participation in the country. Nevertheless, the coordinated feminist protests that took place on 26 September 2019 took some by surprise. On that day, thousands of Palestinian women – some of them for the first time in their lives – hit the streets of 12 cities across the Occupied Palestinian Territories, as well as in refugee camps and the diaspora including a protest in Berlin and another in London.
