Repeal the three-day in-office mandate

Sign the petition to demand the government repeal the three-day in-office mandate and move to the promised case-by-case framework for telework, rather than the one-size-fits-none model they have committed to. We also want them to enshrine this policy into our collective agreements during the next round of bargaining.

This action will automatically send a letter to your member of parliament and Treasury Board President Anita Anand. We will also add your name to the petition that will be hand delivered to the employer on September 9.

Sept 5: International Charity Day

Actions at Canada Revenue Offices across Canada (Let us know if you will be leading an action)

We applaud the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) for recently revoking the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund Canada (JNF-Canada) and Ne’eman Foundation. But, JNF-Canada and Ne’eman Foundation are two of dozens of Israel-focused charities that have violated CRA rules by assisting colonies in the West Bank, racist organizations and the Israeli military.

Over the past two years detailed complaints have been submitted to the CRA asking it to investigate more than a dozen other Israel-focused charities, including the Canadian Zionist Cultural Association, Mizrachi Canada, Jerusalem Heritage Foundation of Canada, Canada Charity Partners and HESEG Foundation. The CRA should investigate these organizations and others assisting West Bank colonies and the Israeli military.

Low Income Neighbourhoods Fighting Back

Large developers have been buying up properties in Toronto’s low income neigbourhoods at an alarming rate over the last decade. On September 5th, organizations from a number of low-income communities will gather to talk about how they are organizing to fight back against the gentrification of their neighbourhoods.

OHC Update

We welcome all of our members and supporters, leaders and members of partner organizations, and anyone who supports the fightback to stop the privatization of Ontario’s public health care system.

After more than 10,000 people across the province protested against Ford’s health care privatization in May, we kicked off the lawn sign campaign by sending out 6,000 signs to local coalitions to continue making the opposition to privatization impossible to ignore.

Now, we are moving into the next phase of the fightback to save our public hospital services as the Ford government plans to award new licenses to private MRI and CT clinics. Polling shows that Ontarians strongly support public health care, oppose privatization and the majority believe the Ford government is running the public system into failure in order to push privatization. They certainly could hardly do more damage if they tried.

We can win this fightback. Indeed we must. The future of our public health care hangs in the balance.

Israel Wages Massive Military Attack on Palestinians in West Bank

In the last three days, Israel has launched large-scale military assaults across the illegally occupied West Bank, which includes East Jerusalem, its most violent since 2002. The main target is Palestinian refugee camps, particularly in the northern cities of Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas. Israel’s occupation forces have killed at least 20 Palestinians since the massive military assault began in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Repeating on a smaller scale some of the most ruthless tactics employed in its genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in the occupied and besieged Gaza Strip, Israel has blockaded all hospitals in Jenin and Tulkarm.
