CALLS TO ACTION

Toronto Community Justice Fund

Right now, we are witnessing a surge in police violence and criminalization across this city and country— a surge that is intended to silence and subdue those who are organizing, speaking out, and taking action in solidarity with Palestinian liberation. The Toronto Community Justice Fund (TCJF) emerged as a response to this powerful and pivotal moment.

Operating from a place of love, care, mutual assistance and resource sharing, the TCJF aims to mitigate the impacts of this state repression and provide community support to our people.

This educational training will start by analyzing the history of the US auto industry and its impact on workers and communities, and evaluate the current state of the industry and how the EV transition is unfolding under the Trump administration. Trump’s Trade War and Canadian Workers

By Socialist Project

The 25% tariffs imposed on exports from Canada and Mexico by the US administration of Donald Trump effective March 4 (with an exception of 10% tariffs for Canadian oil and gas and potash) constitutes an aggressive attack on the livelihoods of Canadian working people and a threat to the survival of key industries in Canada. Trump postponed some of the auto and other tariffs in sectors covered by the US-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) trade treaty between the three countries (about 40% of Canadian exports to the US), with auto tariffs planned for April 2nd but has threatened to continue with others. Further tariffs on aluminum and steel (over the 25% level) were threatened to be as high as 50%, with Trump also threatening to “shut down” the Canadian auto industry.

Building Up Germany’s Die Linke After the Election!

By Thomas Goes

Die Linke (The Left) has staged an impressive comeback. But even more is possible. It can become the strongest political force to the left of centre. The party was successful due to anti-fascist class politics, a strong grassroots campaign, pointed public work, and extremely strong teamwork – but also due to mistakes by other parties and fortunate circumstances. The new voters want social justice, but also climate policy and protection of democracy. If Die Linke wants to continue winning, it must further develop its anti-fascist and ecological class politics and be prepared to address its own contradictions and weaknesses.

The Amazon Strike: Performative or Substantive?

By Sam Gindin

The world has radically changed over the past four-plus decades. Unions haven’t. Or at least they haven’t changed nearly enough to match what they’re up against. In this context, unionizing Amazon – iconic in status and fanatically anti-union – stands as a definitive challenge for this generation of trade unionists. The catch-22 is that while unionizing Amazon holds out the promise of renewing labour, bringing Amazon to heel demands an already revived labour movement in place.
